January Race Calendar

January is almost here and I am ready to start my running adventure!

I am going to post my running calendar for each month. I am SO excited to get started.

January 1 – Commitment Day 5k
January 4 – DRC Frigid 10k
January 11 – Hotckae Hustle 10k
January 25 – Hypnotic Donut Dash 5k

Y’all the Hypnotic Donut Dash will have 3 donut stations throughout the course and free beer afterwards. I am not much of a donut fan and but I am a fan of free beer especially after a run!

I am officially registered for all the races, yay! Here are the links if anyone is interested in running one or two:

I may throw in the3M half marathon on 1/19 in Austin, TX. Right now it is a thought and it is on my calendar but I still trying to determine if I am ready for it or not. Stay tuned for that exciting decision ;-)

Time to lace up those new sneakers Santa brought me!!

Goodbye 2013

Whew, made it through the holidays….well almost. New Year’s is just around the corner and this year, I am READY! I have to admit, 2013 was a tough year for me but it was also really good. Here are a few highlights:

·         I said goodbye to my beloved, Uncle Ken in July, insert sad face.
·         Took a road trip adventure to South Carolina with Paige to celebrate Julie’s birthday and Memorial Day on the beach. Great memories!

Julie, me and Paige in Charelston, SC.
·         Celebrated sweet Caroline’s first birthday!
·         Spent a great weekend in Austin with my besties celebrating Gina and then hitting the town to dance with our favorite 80’s band, the Spazmatics! I am still laughing!

Dancing the night away at the Spazmatics concert in Austin, TX.
·         Welcomed the birth of my “nephew,” Vincent and my new buddy Will. I love babies!!
·         Partied with my High School Class of 1993 at our 20th reunion! Yikes, 20 years!

With the gang at our HS reunion, go Tigers!
·         Started CrossFit at East Dallas CrossFit, only the best box in town! Check them out!
·         Crossed MANY finish lines with Lindsey, one of the best running partners EVER!
·         Spent the summer at the FOE (Fraternal Order of Eagles)
·         I met SO many new friends this year that my cup runeth over with blessings.
·         Celebrated many birthdays of my dear friends.
·         I RAN my first half marathon, yay! I am still on a runner high from that! I have participated in two half marathons in the past but I did the whole run/walk/crawl/limp method and while that method can be effective the best method is just giving it your all and running the whole dang thing!

DRC Half Marathon, at the finish line.

Looking back there are so many good things that occurred this year that they definitely outweigh the bad! I am excited about the New Year and the many adventures and shenanigans that 2014 will bring!

Time to make those New Year’s resolutions….. I am working on mine as we speak, well type.

Happy New Year!!

I have a CRAZY idea....

In April of 2014, I will be celebrating my 39th birthday, and to cap off my dirty thirties, I thought I would do something crazy! I have made the commitment to myself that I would run in 39 races (5ks, 10ks, 15ks and half marathons), say whatttt? My heart and mind say go for it, my knees say “oh hell no!” Well I am listening to my heart and I hope my knees can keep up! I am going out with a bang, y’all!

I have spent weeks searching for races in the DFW area as well as Austin and I have come up with a pretty fun race calendar so far. As we move through the year, more races will be published and I will have to tweak my calendar but for now I think I am off to a great start.

With great friends at the Jingle Bell 5k, December 2012

My first race is the Commitment Day 5k Run hosted by Lifetime Fitness. The run is scheduled for January 1 and benefits the American Heart Association; it’s a great way to start off a new year.

If you are looking for a race, think about signing up for the Commitment Day 5k, here is the link to see if there is a race in your city. http://www.commitmentday.com/ There is still time to register!

Pretty crazy, huh? Well I have been known to do some pretty crazy things in my life so this wouldn’t be any different! I am excited and I hope you all will help keep me accountable and maybe, just maybe I can motivate others to join in on the fun.

See you at the starting line….

First Post, yo!

My first post, yikes!! It is a bit scary heading into the world of blogging but here I am, go easy on me folks! I have been talking about writing this blog for months but was always unsure if my life would be interesting enough, so I just shelved the idea until now. It’s kind of daunting and weird to put your life on display for the world to read, however, with the encouragement of my friends, Laugh.Run.Tacos was born.......and the crowd goes wild!

Why Laugh.Run.Tacos? I love to laugh and to be silly, plain and simple. Laughter is good for the soul and a good belly laugh can turn any bad day into a good day. I love running which I NEVER thought I would say but after 2 years of running I have grown to love it, darn it! Tacos, oh how I love thee, the end. So I put all three of my loves into one fancy and creative blog title, smart, eh?

My goals are to run, crossfit, lose weight, eat healthy and have fun while doing it all! The following posts will document my fitness and exercise, eats, adventures and crazy life! I am SO excited to start this new journey and I hope that anyone who follows will enjoy this little blog.

Peace, love and tacos
